So, our lads have been very busy promoting their new stuff to the media. So far, the reception has been good. It sounds like the new mcfly album will shock everyone, fans and haters. If you’ve heard Party Girl, I think you’ll understand. If you haven’t, what are you waiting for? Go to our previous post and take a listen (and replay it).
There has been too many articles in the interwebs about McFly’s album and project.

Most of our updates will be posted on twitter before this site, so for more up-to-date info (because you know how McFly like, they love giving us surprises), follow our twitter: @McFLY_United.

I post the links at the bottom of this post, but here’s a recap:

• They have a song called Shine A Light, produced by Taio Cruz. According to the reviews, this song could possibly be their second single. (The first is of course Party Girl). According to Daily Star, Shine A Light shows their sensitive side, singing over club beats: “She left me with a broken heart. She took the light and left me in the dark.”
• They have co-written another song called I’ll Be Your Man with Taio Cruz.
• Another song called Nowhere Left To Run has scintillating synths layered over sharp beats (Daily Star).
• McFly has signed a shared-profit deal with Island/Universal.

  It’s an all-encompassing deal – touring, record sales, merchandise, sponsorship, everything except publishing – which sees the band/management and record company divvy up money equally.

  I think this will help their promotion and distribution greatly.

• Party Girl will be released on September 5th (physical single will be available on September 6th) in UK.
• The video of Party Girl will be 30 minutes long. That’s what they said on radio one.
• Album will be released before Christmas, most likely around November. The album has already been named (according to Tom in InDemand), but they haven’t told anyone.
• They’ll do small UK gigs before Christmas, then a world tour next year.
• Super City will be launched on October. Here’s a bit of description from EntertainmentWise:

  What else have they got going on? Well a brand new super site, a website like you’ve never seen before which allows you into each of their ‘bedrooms’ (we had a poke around all of them with Dougie’s help) and also allows you to earn points which equate to amazing real life opportunities with the band.

  And from Newsbeat:

  It’s a subscription-based website aimed at enticing fans to spend money on the band via different means all hosted online.

  Fans will have the chance to get new music first, accrue points for rewards and interact with their favourite members.

Well today marks the day McFly begins their aggressive American assault and I’m happy to let them surmount me. You know … musically.

More specifically, their new single “Party Girl ” (co-written with R&B songwriter/producer Dallas Austin) is sure to pound the walls off every tween bedroom from here to Texarkana.

Danny did a live chat 2 days ago on Popstar to Operastar website. They posted an article about it.

Danny Jones: ‘I want to make opera cool’

Danny Jones has said that he hopes to make opera “cool” by appearing on Popstar To Operastar.

The McFly star claimed that he is not bothered about people who mock him for appearing on the show, admitting that he is on the programme to have fun.

“I’m not bothered about the critics. I’m doing this for the experience and because I think it’ll be fun,” he told ITV. “I don’t want to be too serious on this show. I won’t start crying if I don’t get through.”

He added: “I’m just thrilled to be involved with Popstar To Operastar. I think it could introduce opera to a whole new audience. I’m hoping to make opera cool!”

Popstar To Operastar launches on Friday at 9pm on BBC One.

I also made a new album in the gallery for the Popstar to Operastar pictures, especially promo pictures. We’ll probably make a new category for it if Danny stays for quite long on the show. ^_^

Heatworld posted the whole interview with our lads from their celebrity master class day.

There’s nothing serious about the interview (of course, it’s McFly), and I didn’t find any valuable information about their ‘secret’ projects or even any of their projects. Nevertheless, it’s fun to read.

Here’s one part of the interview:

Do you think that a lot of kids assume the way to get famous is to do The X Factor or similar?
All: Yeah.
Tom: That’s the thing. I think a lot of them were kind of surprised by how much work goes into it. You know, hearing about how, when we’re writing songs like now, when we’re writing songs for our next album, already we’re coming up with what the next tour stage is going to look like, or what the artwork’s going to be like.

As this point, the boys get distracted by a signed picture of them on the table (the same one you can see above). Danny has noticed that Harry is “popping out” on the end, and finds it very funny…

Danny: Harry’s just popping out of there! That’s the worst picture ever.
All crack up.
Harry: I can’t believe they did that to me! Why did they do that?
Tom: [Laughing] It’s like a panto photo!
Danny: It’s like your picture when you work at GMTV.
All crack up again.
Harry: I could be a GMTV presenter…
Danny: You could with that!
Tom: That should be your Twitter profile picture!
All laugh.
Harry: I look like Ben Shephard!
Dougie: You do, yeah, I think that’s it.
heatworld: There’s nothing wrong with looking like Ben Shephard…
Danny: I’m Tweeting about this interview!

After we’ve all compared who has the most followers on Twitter and talked about how good Harry looks in a cricket jumper, we get back on track…

McFly Spain had the chance to interview Thomas Fletcher, from the band McFly. They asked Tom about his impression of Spain, fans, performing, McFly new album, and Tom’s secret projects (which he refused to say anything).

I post the interview under the cut since it’s pretty long.

Last Septemebr you had your first tour of McFly in Europe…which new experiences has the European tour made you feel?
It was a really great tour and was amazing to finally play some shows for our European fans. We’re sorry it’s taken us so long to get over there but we’ll be back soon.

We’ve listened that this last tour was very succesful…Did you expect the answer of European fans as good as it was?
Everyone was really surprised by the reaction of the fans. It was exciting for us to play in front of a new crowd. It was definitely one of my favourite tours we’ve ever done.

Which was the song you enjoyed most playing live?
I like playing every single one of our songs live but If i had to choose my faves i’d pick One for the Radio, Lies and 5 colours.

Have you ever imagined you could have fans all around the world? How do you feel about it?
We’ve always said that ultimately we’d like to be the biggest band in the world. We are very ambitious! Because of the internet we get to talk to and hear from a lot of fans from all around the world but it was really amazing to get out there and see them all .

The fans over Europe have been so excited about your European tour and we’re sure that you had fun… What is the craziest and funniest thing that has happened to you during your European tour?
I walked into my hotel room window and knocked myself out for about 10 minutes. WHen I came round I’d completely forgotten what had happened!

When Dougie was ill in Cologne you played some acoustic songs like Not alone and Too close for comfort. But then, when Dougie felt better you’d continued playing those songs. Have your ever thought about make an acoustic tour? Because I think it’s a great idea and… We want to hear them live, too!
Maybe me and Danny should do a tour without the other 2! Ha, just kidding. We really enjoyed playing those old songs, I think we’ll chenge the set list up a bit next time.

Let’s ask about your visit to our country…

What your feelings were 5 minutes before the first show in Spain? What did you feel on stage on your first concert of your European tour?
For some reason I wasn’t nervous at all. We hadn’t played a gig in a little while so It was a real buzz getting out on stage and the crowd was so amazing that I got so overwhelmed and almost couldn’t sing One For The Radio…had a lump in my throat! Was a kick ass show!

Have you noticed any difference between the Spanish and the English audience?
I think the differences are mainly because that was the first time we’ve ever played in spain so there was a real energy. In England there’s a sense of familiarity and that the crowd sort of know what to expect.

Your visit to our country was very short and we’re sure you didn’t have much time to see Madrid or Barcelona (as the other European cities). Was there anything you would have liked to do, see or try, but couldn’t because of the lack of time?
We never get a chance to see much of anywhere we go. There’s so much we’d like to experience, maybe the fans can recommend some places for our next visit.

Let’s talk about your music, new album and the band…

Which kind of music would you like to experiment with?
You’ll have to wait and see. We’re trying out some new things for our next album.

Which differences are going to be between the new album and the last one, Radio:Active?
It’s very different I think. We’ve never really tried to move our music on and push boundaries before but we’re really trying to do that this time. But it’s felt very effortless so far. We all knew we wanted to experiment and try taking the next album in a new direction. I think it’s really important for bands to constantly try to take things to new places. I think the fans are going to love what we’re writing at the moment.

Spanish fans want to know some curiosities…

What’s the meaning of “fun” for you?
Being in a band! It’s the most fun thing you can do with your pants on.

How do you feel when people talk to you as if they’d known you their whole lives?
It’s a little weird…but we’ve had over 6 years of practice. We’re all nice guys and when we meet fans we know they’ll probably be a little nervous so we try to make it a cool experience for them.

Did you enjoy the Spanish presents? (Fanbook and T-shirts)
LOVED them! We got some awesome presents on the last tour.

Finally, the staff wants to ask you something; it’s our fifth anniversary, so be good with us and try to give us as many details as you can!

You’ve announced a change in your website, a new documentary… Is it linked to your secret projects? And if the answer is “yes”: Can you tell us something about them, please?
Nope, my lips are sealed. All I can say is that McFLY fans are going to have an amazing year next year. We’re planning things that have never been done before and it’s going to make the McFLY experience a million times more exciting for our fans all over the world.
