Mcfly, a Pop/ Rock British band, was formed back in around 2003. They were formed by 4 members, Tom Fletcher (lead-vocals, guitar), Danny Jones (lead-vocals, guitar), Dougie Poynter (vocals, bass-guitar), and Harry Judd (Drums). It was named after one of Fletcher’s favourite character in movie, Marty Mcfly. They were managed by Prestige Management and were signed with Island Company until 2008.

Their debut album, Room on the Third Floor, actually was taken from their (Jones and Fletcher) experience while they were making music together in Intercontinental Hotel (on third floor), London before the band was created. The first single on their debut album, Five Colours (In Her Hair) was released on March 29th 2004 and hit #1 in April 2004. The following single, Obviously, also got top spot in UK. Both of their next third and fourth singles, Room on the Third Floor and That Girl, are on the top 5 in UK.

The success of those singles is followed by their album. The album was debuted #1 in UK albums chart. They also broke the record The Beatles previously held, as the youngest band that have their debut album straight into #1.

In 2005, they released their second album, titled ‘Wonderland’. All About You/You’ve Got A Friend released on March 13th, 2005 as their
double A-side singles. The song manage to sneak in the first position of UK Charts, making it their third number one single. All profits of the sales go to Comic Relief.

Continuing the success of All About You, they released ‘I’ll Be Ok’ on August 15th, 2005, which got #1 as well. ‘I Wanna Hold You and Ultraviolet/The Ballad of Paul K are the last singles released for this album. Wonderland album also succeeded in climbing into numero uno in UK charts, making it the band’s second no #1 album.

On the year 2006, they make their debut on Hollywood movie, alongside Chris Pine and Lindsay Lohan, in Just my Luck. They played themselves in this movie. For this, they also recorded an album which has the same title as the movie itself. The album consists of several songs from their previous album beside the song “Just My Luck”.

Their real next recorded album, Motion in The Ocean, was also released in the year 2006. Please Please/ Don’t Stop Me Now (cover version from Queen’s hit singles) was the first song released for this album as the official song of Sport Relief 2006. The song reached the highest number on UK Charts, giving them their 5th #1 song.

The Uranus’ song, Star Girl, was released shortly after, it is their sixth #1 in UK Charts. Next, the catchy Sorry’s Not Good Enough/ Friday Night (soundtrack of Night at Museum) was on the charts, though they didn’t get to the highest position. But, their following single make up for that, as Baby’s Coming Back/Transylvania become their seventh #1 song.

Their Greatest Hits Album come up on November 2007, with the hit single, The Heart Never Lies (#3 in UK Singles Chart), and two more brand new songs, ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ and ‘Dont Wake Me Up’. Also released on the end of year 2007 is The Greatest Bits : B-Sides and Rarities, which includes Lola, Help, No Worries, and more.

Radio : ACTIVE is their latest album which was recorded under their own label, Super Record. It was released on Daily Mail first on July 20th, 2008 as a way to promote their music to wider audience.

“One for The Radio” is their first released single from this album. A song with a hidden message from the band and their supporters that, “We don’t care” about all the one-sided judge critiques about them, their songs, and their fans. The song hit #2 in UK Charts.

The second song they chose to release from this album is ‘Lies’. A song about their experience with girls with really bad attitude and all. But, they stressed out that no particular girl inspired it. The song reach #4 in UK Chart.

For help out Children In Need, they released Do Ya/ Stay With Me as their third single. It was their first single that couldn’t reach top 10 in UK Charts. The song just manage to got #18 place.

The last single from the album is a melodic-sing along ‘Fallin’ in Love’. The purpose of releasing this song is to help out the R:A DVD Live in Wembley sales. And, the strategy turns out great as the DVD got highest spot in UK.

At the end May 2009, the band currently writing and recording their 5th studio album between performing on tour and festivals. They said the concept of their new album was Sci-Fi.

On 2010, the band embarked on some secret projects, including an innovative community-based site, Super City. Their newest album, Above The Noise, which sees the band taking a new direction towards RnB and dance music, will also be released this year (November 2010). Their first single from the album, Party Girl, came as a shock for everyone who never imagined that McFLY could leap that far from their pop-punk root. Nevertheless, they have their “army” supporting them, and it turns out that many critics have positive opinions regarding this new sound. The video for their second single, featuring Taio Cruz, called Shine A Light was broadcasted live during filming and was launched at McFLY.com on October 8th. The single itself will be released on Nov 7th.
